Instructions for submitting a manuscript

IJHS is a scientific publication with a rigorous editorial peer review process. Before starting, the authors should review the general rules of publication in IJHS, types of articles, and sections.

1- Submission Format

The following are general requirements for submitting manuscripts of all study designs and manuscript formats.

Manuscript Sections: The article should be organized in Title, abstract, keywords, development of the work, and bibliographic list. The development of the worktext should be according to “IMRAD” structure (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections). Special types of articles, such as meta-analyses, may require different formats, while case reports, narrative reviews, and editorials may have less structured or unstructured formats. See General Principles and Manuscript Sections of International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Digital File Format: Manuscripts must be typed in Microsoft Word or similar software. Only .doc, rtf, odt formats are accepted.

Word Count: Each manuscript has a word limit. The count includes all the words contained from the introduction to the conclusion or discussion. Abstracts, figure legends, and table notes are not counted. Manuscripts that exceed the count limits will be returned for correction. Articles must have a maximum total length of 1500 to 10000 words depend of tipe of artticle (including notes and bibliography), A4 size sheet, with 2.5cm margins (top, bottom, right, and left), double spaced, and Times New Roman font. 12 pts.

See Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals. The number of editors is unlimited except for Letters to Editor or Commentaries, and Multimedia contents (3 authors). The author's data (name, institutional membership, and email) must be sent separately to guarantee anonymity at the time of the evaluation.

Reporting Guidelines: IJHS subscribes to guidelines developed to report different study designs. Include CONSORT for randomized trials, STROBE for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, STARD for studies of diagnostic accuracy and others sources for reporting guidelines in EQUATOR Network and the NLM's Research Reporting Guidelines and Initiatives. See Reporting Guidelines of International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Key words
Include a maximum of 6 keywords after the abstract. For keywords in English use MESH (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/).

Additional Information: Tables, graphics, photos and illustrations must be sent in a separate file (TIF, JPG or PNG formats) numbered according to the order of appearance in the text. The minimum resolution of the file should be 300 dpi. Supplementary electronic-only material should be submitted and sent for peer review simultaneously with the primary manuscript.
